Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
Deliver design and technical solutions to assigned projects to budget and schedule, all while maintaining compliance with the Engineering Management System and associated regulatory obligations.
Demonstrate innovation & flexibility in solving engineering problems including key challenges, decisions and recommendations.
Create design specifications and requirements.
Create engineering solutions, & compile documentation to verify & validate a design against requirements.
Conduct technical investigations/analysis and document these within technical reports.
Utilise computer applications for design development activities.
Perform technical and personnel safety risk assessments.
Support the commercial tenders with technical solutions, project schedules, Work Breakdown Structures and cost models.
Support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and calibration of Engine Test Cell and other MRO equipment.
Qualifications And Experience
Essential
Australian Citizen with ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Mechatronic preferred) + RPEQ registration
Proven experience delivering full lifecycle engineering solutions (concept to commissioning)
Strong skills in electrical/mechatronic design, system development and modelling
Track record delivering projects on time, on budget, and to quality standards
Knowledge of Australian standards, WHS and regulatory compliance
Ability to perform and document technical and safety risk assessments
Hands-on experience with installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and calibration
Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking skills
Excellent communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Proficient in MS Office and relevant engineering software
Desirable (General)
Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent)
Project Management qualification with practical experience
Experience in hazardous area design and operations
Aviation engineering/MRO environment experience (military or commercial)
Knowledge of aircraft engine maintenance and gas turbine test cell systems (design or maintenance)
Experience applying reliability engineering across the asset lifecycle
Understanding of RAM analysis and its application to operations and test facilities
Familiar with RCA methodologies (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis)
Knowledge of asset lifecycle management, including reliability growth, obsolescence and sustainment
Proven ability to collaborate with maintenance, operations and engineering teams to improve reliability and availability
Desirable (Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering)
Restricted electrical license and experience in fault finding and maintaining electrical systems
Experience with DAS/PLC platforms (e.g. NI, Allen Bradley, Honeywell) and IEC standards
Strong knowledge of instrumentation and signal interfaces (4–20mA, thermocouples, RTDs, load/pressure/flow transmitters)
Familiar with industrial communications (Modbus TCP/RTU, HART)
Ability to read/create schematics and component schedules to engineering standards
Solid understanding of electronics, signal processing, power systems, RFI/RFC and hazardous areas
Knowledge of wiring systems, cable types and installation practices
Understanding of Australian electrical standards (AS/NZS 3000)
Proficient in LabVIEW and systems engineering models
Experience with calibration and commissioning of control and data acquisition systems
Strong analytical and numerical skills with ability to interpret complex data trends
Sound knowledge of electronic control and DAS systems
Knowledge of CAD, FEA and CFD tools
Experience with gas turbines or power generation equipment
Understanding of Lean principles, APQP and continuous improvement
