The Maintenance Technician Aircraft Parts Painter is responsible for the direct hands-on labor necessary to complete the painting process of aviation parts to customer and company specifications, including surface preparation and paint application.

Job Description

Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking and applying corrosion protection treatments
  • Mix, prepare and apply primers, paints and coatings to aircraft structural parts in accordance with technical documentation
  • Painting: applying primer, paint, and other coatings using spray guns.
  • Operate and maintain spray painting equipment, hand tools, etc.
  • Ensures proper cleaning and maintenance of spray guns and other painting equipment.
  • Follow applicable safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and respirators
  • Inspect painted surfaces for quality, finish and compliance with specifications
  • Perform touch-up and rework as necessary
  • Quality Control: inspecting the painted surface for defects, ensuring proper adhesion, and meeting safety and quality standards.
  • Achieves forecast project schedule and budget.
  • Provides timely and meaningful project reporting for internal stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership and reinforcing high standards in terms of delivering assigned projects through promulgation of company values.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable business specific legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with the development of plans to ensure the continued growth and success of the business.
  • Builds strong working relationships and a collaborative working environment.
  • Provides leadership and reinforce high standards with regard to safety.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Experience in industrial, automotive or aircraft painting
  • Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint application methods, and use of paint equipment.
  • Attention to detail – precision in applying paint and ensuring a flawless finish.
  • Ability to mix paints and coatings accurately
  • Familiarity with painting tools, spray guns and related equipment
  • Ability to wear respirator and pass required medical clearance for respirator use
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
  • Ability to stand, bend and work in various positions for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in a paint booth and wear protective gear as required
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs. with no restrictions

Desirable

  • Must be observant and meticulous.
  • Ability to read process sheets and follow directions
  • Ability to stand, bend and work in various positions for extended periods

FAA/DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program

This position is subject to the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) drug and alcohol testing regulations as outlined in 49 CFR Part 40 and Part 120. As part of our compliance with these regulations, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test prior to starting work.

Employees in safety-sensitive positions may also be subject to random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing as required by law.

Participation in and adherence to our DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing program is a condition of employment.
