About the Role

We are looking for highly motivated Level 2 NDT Technician ready to take the step to Level 3 to work on the most exciting engine platforms in the defence sector – the legendary F/A 18 Super Hornet’s F414 engine and F135 engine that powers the most advanced fifth-generation fighter in the world – the F35 Lightning II.

Your duties include:

  • Conduct NDT Level I and II assessments for certification in all required methods at all TAE locations.
  • Provide / coordinate training to increase team member’s job knowledge and abilities.
  • Maintain certification / skill level records for all team members.
  • Write, review and/or approve internal manuals, procedures and instructions
  • Review / approve vendor NDT procedures as required.
  • Prepare / conduct internal audits and represent TAE during customer and external NDT audits / visits.
  • Provide compliance performance monitoring and reporting functions to assist with management of the NDT sub section.
  • Provide strategic direction for lean/continuous improvement initiatives for the NDT sub section.
  • Ensure all equipment, consumables and processes for the NDT sub section are suitable to meet operational needs.
  • Participate on cross functional teams and with customers on the development of techniques and procedures for new projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Current and valid Level 2 qualifications in Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Eddy Current Testing (ET) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) meeting EN4179 or equivalent. While NDT Level 3 credentials are preferred, training will be provided to progress from NDT level 2 to Level 3.
  • In-depth knowledge of EN4179 (or equivalent) and relevant customer NDT requirements.
  • 10 years of NDT experience in a maintenance / engineering / aviation environment.
  • Experience developing procedures and instructions for PT, UT, MT and ET NDT methods.
  • Demonstrable training skills.
  • Eligibility and willingness to be nominated and accepted as the TAE Aerospace Form 4 NDT Responsible Level 3 Post Holder for all required airworthiness authorities when required.
  • Ability to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Experience working within a NADCAP approval.
  • Understanding of ISO9001, AS9110 certifications and relevant airworthiness authority regulations.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in all NDT practices associated with aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).
  • Experience dealing directly with customers and approval bodies.
  • Current and valid Level 3 qualifications in Radiography Testing (RT).
