This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist with strong Okuma CNC experience to work within a highly skilled precision manufacturing environment supporting the aerospace and defence industry.
Working on morning shift, you will independently undertake machining activities, manufacture precision components to customer requirements and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with stringent quality, regulatory and product safety standards.
The role responsibilities include:
- Machine, manufacture and modify components to engineering drawings, work orders and instructions using NC and CNC-controlled equipment
- Set up and operate CNC machinery, including Okuma machines
- Perform machining activities accurately and efficiently to required specifications
- Perform CMM programming and inspection activities
- Undertake Release to Service inspections and Authorised Inspector activities where appropriately authorised
- Ensure completed work conforms to the applicable drawing or layout sheet
- Accurately record completed work and production activities within work orders and Quantum
- Maintain tooling, machinery and workshop areas to a high standard
- Assist Engineering with design changes, machining programs and process improvements
- Support investigations relating to defects, discrepancies and non-conformances
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the work area
- Maintain strong safety, quality, product conformance and housekeeping standards
Required skills, experience and qualifications:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
- Demonstrated Okuma CNC machining experience – essential
- Advanced technical experience operating NC and CNC machines
- Experience with CMM machine operations
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques and machining processes
- Ability to operate independently and troubleshoot machining issues
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Strong commitment to product quality, safety and regulatory compliance
- Experience using Quantum ERP or another aerospace/manufacturing ERP system will be highly regarded
- A positive, professional and team-focused approach
- A drive for continuous improvement and achieving production outcomes
